Tomorrow, a little too bright an early on a Saturday for my liking, I'll be rocking up to the Community Village in Coffs Harbour... notepad in hand, dressed in 'comfortable clothing' with my learning cap on, ready to start my W.I.R.E.S course.
For those not in the know, I'm doing a Wildlife Rescue course - I've always wanted to do some volunteer work and I love wildlife so I bit the bullet and registered a while back. The course goes for 2 days and I'm quite excited (and a little nervous) to see what is presented and expected.
The weird thing is that it means no drinky-poo's for me this weekend. This, is a very rare occurrence. The last time I went without a night on the turps (over a weekend) was right before my wedding. I did the liver cleanse and didn't touch even a sip of beer in about 10 weeks! Yes! 10 WEEKS! Note: I also lost about 10 kilo's - diet? Possibly... no beer? Definitely! That's actually the longest I've gone without having a drink since I was 15 years old!
Back to me being a good samaritan though! Praise people... praise!
Now... go out there, achieve greatness, drink beer (for me) and have a rad weekend!

Karls--
That sounds right up my alley! I love animals and I hope you have a wonderful time. I can't wait to hear all about it. Sorry about the no drinks factor, but it's only 2 days, right?!
Animals freak me out, man. Going to the zoo is fine until you get those exhibits where they aren't really caged in. I mean I'm sorry- but if a fucking polar bear wants to eat you, that crappy plastic shield will do nothing to save me. :)
I've gone 24 years and 4 months without a drink. Go me! haha so I won't be drinking for you....
Good luck you will do great! I gotta say I don't drink much and I don't drink beer but I do luuurrrve a girlie cocktail. Or 5! lol XX
I'm with Smart Ass Sara.
Animals freak me out, especially those pokey ones...not slow, but sharp and pointy.
Have fun! Sounds very interesting.
On another note, my husband wants to know why Aussie men are so hot. Seriously, we were watching The Mentalist with Simon Baker and he asked "What makes Australian men so good looking?". I said we needed to ask Karls. It's Thursday night here and I've definitely had a few drinks for you! Which is why this comment is so random.
Good for you - that's an awesome thing to do. And the sacrifice you are making just makes it all the more noble :P
Let me just say that #1-I'm proud of you! #2-you will suffer by not drinking...and I will suffer...as my tattoo is this weekend, so we'll both be in some state of pain or another...
and I hope it's a wonderful experience for you! Wildlife is a cause I myself would of chosen!
xoxo
~hl~
you are so rugged awesome. i'll be praying that you don't go through withdrawals this weekend and that you come back all crocodile-wilderness hunter-esque. you aussies are cool shit.
That is awesome. While you are doing that I will be drinking beer for you (and for me!). :)
that's so cool! do you actually going to save little hedgehogs? steal one for me!
unfortunately, this weekend i'll be workin, not drinkin. :(
that is so exciting. very wildernessy and bear grylls like.
i suppose i can have a beer or two for you. just so you won't feel so sad.
praise given!
that's so awesome of you! i haven't given up my weekend in a long time. i did for a whole year almost when i was training for my marathons with TNT. they took over MY LIFE. so don't miss that.
but your wildlife experience should be fun.
enjoy!
HOLY CRAP! a sober karls??? i'll pray for micko, lol... i hope you have a blast being a good samaritan! i'm SO proud of you!
Oh man, this weekend seems a lot less fun when karls ain't got her drink on. have fun on your weekend - it's going to be awesome.
and sober :-)
That's ok - we will do it for you.
love,
kiz
Have a fantastic weekend! Will await updates?
I'm sure all those gorgeous babies will make the non drinking worth it! and besides, you did have a wednesday sesh, so you cant really complain too much!!! seriously though mate, you should be very proud of becoming a volunteer, just make sure they don't take over my bedroom!
So proud of your sacrafice Karls! Sounds like a great way to spend your time....volunteering to help out wildlife.
Since living with my inlaws for the past 9 months, I have been cozily off the wagon nearly every night. I've saved each and every cork from every bottle of wine consumed. I plan to put them in a decorative glass vase to display in my beautiful new home....'ya know..to keep me honest;)
Oh that sounds like so much fun! I hope you enjoyed yourself and I definitely made sure that your share of the beer didn't go to waste this weekend. You're welcome. :)
Karls! Congrats! I just gave you the Kreativ Blogger Award! you can claim it by going to my page! http://30andstartingover.blogspot.com/
10 kilos lost with no beer? I wonder if i would have similar results if i gave up wine for a while.
Sadly, I don't see that happening...
Hope the experience was awesome. Pics? Details?
